[T]he flat, generalizing, presentist view of the past encapsulates it and makes it boring, whereas amazement yearns toward an understanding, a significance, that is always just a little beyond both our theories and our fears.
Every view of things that is not wonderful is false.

Welcome to One Last Sketch, official blog of me, author/artist/almost-historian/possible Time Lord Michal Wojcik. This began as a place for me to archive “The Lurking Humour” comic, a fairly irregular thing done on cheap, yellow paper throughout my first try at uni. These are somewhat bizarre, and some are rather poorly-drawn (dashed off as they were), but that was, as we might say, the point.
More recently, I’ve started to focus ever more on writing. You’ll now find articles discussing fantasy fiction, short stories, history, and starting out as a writer in Canada. Essentially, after finishing my History BA in 2010, I decided to write about all those things I didn’t have a chance to write about as an undergrad, and I continued to write about the things I didn’t get to write about academically as a graduate student, and continue to write about these things now that my time at university is finished.
If you wish to contact me, just use the “Contact” form on this blog. I’ll be happy to answer any questions.
I reserve the right to moderate comments; I will not modify anyone’s words, but I will delete entirely anything I find offensive, off-topic, or spammy. Disagreement and debate are welcome, ad hominem attacks and bad faith arguments are not.
